I have always been Sharing the different aspects of the Hindu festivals and their importance in life. I know its really all a case of putting all those things into picture which is muss less in importance but i think we need to have a close eye these traditional festivals. Where we Indian have started to observe festivals like Valentie’s day,mother’s day, Rose day and n number of other festivals then why cant we celebrate our very own traditional festivals. Please don’t consider me as one of teh Bajrang dal or Vishwa hindu Parishad Member… I am a pure normal man ( as i think those are abnormal people). To describe this time i have BRATOPAYAN, the title of the post. This is a very old and essential occasion in all brahmins in Hinduism.Its More a narrow Caste festival of only brahmins and few more related castes. This festival is Followed by these cases from the ancient ARYA Times. The aryans were having four phases in their life. BALYASTHA,BRAMHACHAYA,GRAHYASTHA,BANAPRASTHA. The first phase is birth till 14 yrs as the baby needs love and care of Parents and Family members.From 14 th yr to 25 its called as brahacharya where he is suppposed to learn all vedas,purans and all theknowledge and skill sets which makes him prepared for the future. from 25 to 50 years he lives as grahyastha by marrying a girl and observes the duties and responsibilities of an Ideal Husband and a family man. After 50ears he retires himself from the family life and goes to the jungle and spends the rest of his time by praying all holy books and concentrating on the lord in all forms of mythological ways. The occasion i am going to describe is ” BRATOPAYAN”. This is to remark the occasion when one child is made to take oath to deliberately learn each and every aspect of a bachelor life,to learn from the Veda’s , purans and the shastras to learn the art to live life like a saint. This is called BRATOPAAN where in be keeping the panchatatya and das Dishayen as witness the child is aked to take oth to play the role of a bramhacharya. On the occasion the young child is asked to lean teh art of Begging as during the periodof BRAMHACHARYAthis is the only way he is left with to earn his fooding and the rest of the time he is asked to read the shastrs , vedas and purans… a pandit is asked to do the proceedings and he is been asked to start begging from his family members. The guys maternal Uncle plays a vial role in this occasion. Here in an occasion a water fullPot is put with Mango Leaves and one side the guys uncle stands and the other side is set free with few distance form the guy. So there remains two ways if he goes to his uncle then he gets an option to spend his life as BALYASTHA,BRAMHACHAYA,GRAHYASTHA,BANAPRASTHA and if he goes the other way then he has to spend his whole life as a SANYASI…
